Replacement of Stoddard
Solvent by DF-2000 Fluid in Hydrocarbon Drycleaning Machines
We intend this to assist in the change to ExxonMobil Chemical Drycleaning
Fluid 2000 (DF-2000 Fluid) from Stoddard solvent in petroleum
drycleaning machines. These procedures will provide the user with
immediate benefits of DF-2000 Fluid including essentially no odor
and high flash point.
Step 1 - Cleaning System
- Drain all of the old solvent from the entire system, including
the storage tanks and all piping
- Remove old solvent filters
- Remove sludge from tank bottoms, sides of tank and filter housings
- Clean, drain and dry all of the condenser
housings and water separators
- Dispose of all solvent waste and used filters which
may contain solvent in accordance with applicable local, state
and federal regulations
Step 2 - Flushing System
- Add a few gallons of DF-2000 Fluid to the storage tank
- Pump fresh DF-2000 Fluid around the system to remove remaining
sludge and Stoddard solvent
- Drain the DF-2000 Fluid used as a rinse
- Dispose of all rinse solvent waste in
accordance with applicable local, state
and federal regulations
-
Install new solvent filters
- Fill storage tanks with DF-2000 Fluid
Step 3 - Installing Cleaning Additives
- Ensure that your additives are compatible with DF-2000 Fluid
(contact technical support for a listing of compatible
additives)
- Add proper amount of cleaning additives
to appropriate storage tank if using charge process; with load
process cleaning additives, precondition appropriate storage
tank and filter with cleaning additives
Step 4 - Starting Up System
- Start up the drycleaning unit and run one cycle with dry rags
to ensure that the system is clean, free
of moisture and that cycle programming is
adequate
